MANY who have heard about Al Bukhary Foundation, a charity thats spent hundreds of millions of dollars for charitable purposes. The Foundation's Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al Bukhary, a businessman who cannot tolerate the publicity. However, not many people actually know who this businessman and how he built his business empire.

Nowadays, Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al Bukhary becomes an idol to the youth. The effort from him portrayed that everyone can be success, but we need to be struggle to achieve our aim in life. Effort is the keyword to get a successful life in future. That is what Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar did to become an amazing person now.

Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al Bukhary bin Syed Nor Al-Bukhary, the 8th richest Malaysian comes from Alor Setar Kedah. He was born into a mid-low Malay Family whereas his house without necessities and luxuries. His highest education was only until form five. But, try we imagine, how he can be so success like today? He also never furthers his study to university.

However his knowledge and experience was gain through his entrepreneurship experience during his youth time. During his primary and secondary studies, he helped his mother planting and selling vegetables in the market and also selling roti canai. His numeric knowledge was used to help his father in doing daily book keeping.

After finishing school, he helped his father in breeding cow business but it only in short time because the foot and mouth disease. He does not give and continue selling meats to get money. He then move on to packaging the meats and start selling them wholesale. His determination paid off and the business started to take off.

After that, his life change slowly when he started his business in the 1990s dealing in rice. More success followed and he moved to rice trading business. He worked even harder after he was awarded the rice trading license from Lembaga Padi Negara.

Nowadays, Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al Bukhary is respectable person because his success in life. In appreciation of his contribution and success, he got many awards. He also got entitle as Panglima Seri Mahkota (P.S.M) BY His Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong, which carries the title Tan Sri and the Dato' Setia Mahkota Kedah (D.S.D.K.) by HRH The Sultan Kedah, which carries the title Dato'.
